HOOFER’S HOOLIGANS: The FINAL ride!
Hoofer’s Hooligans will make one more ride to join up with RFTW in 2026. We will leave the Dallas area on May 7, and arrive in Ontario on May 10. (Thursday - Sunday.) A detailed itinerary will be posted soon.
For more than 25 years, this “Run to the Run” has escorted Riders from Dallas to Ontario. It started as “Dutch’s Demented Desperados”, then became “Cowboy’s Desert Renegades”, and then was named “Hoofer’s Hooligans.”
In each iteration, the main objective has been safe travels and the sharpening of group riding skills. Each of the Ride Leaders has put their own unique touch on the journey while still maintaining a commitment to safety. Each Leader has built on the solid foundation first established by Dutch, so many years ago.
It has been my honor and privilege to lead this group for 11 years. I hope that all of my Hooligans have enjoyed our rides together as much as I have. But it is time to “pass the reigns” to someone else, so that this mission can continue to grow and be a useful learning opportunity for the RFTW Riders.
I am pleased that TWO experienced and veteran RFTW and Hooligans riders have stepped forward to keep this tradition alive. Thank You to Erik Wagner and Jerry Lanier, the new “Trail Bosses” for … “The Waggin’ Train!”
For this final ride of Hoofer’s Hooligans, Erik and Jerry will take on active Leadership roles, while I take on a mentorship role. I am already looking forward to how they will make this “Run to the Run” their own!
