Perryville visit

For anyone going on the 2026 Run For The Wall Sandbox and wants to go wall to wall to wall. The Lee will be a group leaving Ottawa Illinois on Wednesday May 27 heading to the Vietnam wall in Perryville Missouri. This event is not associated with RFTW. It will not have a fuel crew or a structured leadership. We are riding to visit a beautiful patriotic area where a Vietnam Veteran donated land and money to build a memorial in a field to honor those that gave everything and those that are still missing. This highly respected veteran donated the land and 2 million dollars to honor those he served with. The wall is the exact size and has the same mistakes on it as the wall in DC. One major difference is that everything that has ever been left at the wall will be on display for us to see upon our arrival as it has been every year since its opening. The site has a reception area and a museum that is open to all. They continually expand this memorial to include a Huey and other great things to see. Last year we visited and left a special tribute to one of our own. This year we will have a small ceremony to honor another great man. Don Long, the father of our Midway head road guard passed this year. Pipes has asked if it would be possible to honor his father by leaving his Run For The Wall vest at the wall. I have talked to the staff in Perryville and they would be honored to receive and keep his memory alive. Please consider joining us as we roll though Illinois and Missouri to make this happen. We have a block of rooms set aside st the Holiday Inn in Perryville. The block is under the name Perryville Run. Room rate is $110. We will be able to get more rooms if needed. The phone number is 573 605-1385. If you have any questions please drop me a line.
