Southern Route Coms

What briefing?

There is a fng brief your first day.

Then daily morning program & Plt Leader safety brief.

The itinerary will have show times and locations. Don’t be late.

Each route has a “camping coordinator” that can be a big help.

Yes. Every morning. We pay particular attention to anything that is unusual for that day. We also address any changes to the itinerary that may have occurred. For example, in 2022 we had the wildfires in New Mexico. That event caused a major change to the itinerary for days 3 and 4.

Hey, I’m not sure I’m in the right place to ask this, but here goes. This is “Wookie”, I’m wondering if anyone is using a Half Shell Helmet with the GMRS BTECH RADIO. If so what headset set up are you using. I have a Motor Officer style half shell helmet, ‘09 Road King, no factory radio/communication. Been using a J&M CB handlebar mount setup for years. Want to be able to listen to the Pack to monitor what’s going on. Any help/advice would be Greatly Appreciated!!

Hey Wookie, I use a 3/4 helmet, open face. Had to buy a Sena (50S) comm unit for Bluetooth connectivity. I have an older Yamaha Venture, no Bluetooth or anything or “modern” comm system on the bike. The Sena provides several solutions for different helmet types, you might want to look to them for an answer.

Hey Airdale69, thanks for the info. Had seen a couple options,Sena included. Good to hear from someone who’s actually using one. I’ll check it out closer. Sounds like what I’m looking for. Thanks Again!!

I am using the GMRS Pro with the B22 bluetooth speaker/mic. I pair the radio to the program on my android phone and chose my phone in the media place on the radio. You can feed this thru your headset like your CB and use the B22 to transmit, Wizard

Thank You Wizard. I’ll check it out.

I have posted camping accommodations on the forum

Still trying to dial in Comms. Got the BTECH PRO. Headset question…. Looking at Sena…… any advice, opinion, hands on advice as to which Sena headset to go with??? Thanks!!

Wookie, I would offer you two answers, since I own one of each.

If you are only needing Bluetooth to connect to phone and your BTECH, consider a unit like the 20s, which gives you both Bluetooth connection and communication with others. If you ride frequently in larger groups, with people who use Mesh communications, consider spending a little extra and get one of the Sena Mesh units like a 50s or 60s. The Mesh units add a lot of flexibility, especially if you frequently ride in groups. Plus the Harman Kardon sound is amazingly good!

IMHO, this is one good case for “buy once, cry once”.

Finally, Cardo makes really good stuff to, so you might want to check them out.

Be well,
Doc

Doc, Thanks for the info. I’ve gone to Sena & asked, but can’t get a straight answer. This tells me more of what I need to know. Should’ve came to the Forum first!! RFTW is the only large group we ride with. Even though we’re not in a Leadership Position this year, I still like to know what’s going on around me. Thanks so much for the response. We’re planning to join Southern in Midland/Odessa, hope to see you on The Run!! Ride Safe!! Thanks Again! Wookie

Wookie,
This has become problematic. I now am using a secret service type ear plug with push to talk button. It has the two pins that plug into the side of the radio. I will put the ear piece in my left ear and clip the mic close to my face.

Hey Wizard, Thanks for the update. Sounds like still, a Work In Progress. Hope this will be the Final Fix for you. I’ll keep all you’re info in mind, I’m still dealing with Work in Progress as well😬. Good Luck - Thanks Again!!! Wookie
